At 10 hours exactly, it has already surpassed the sport's previous longest ever battle - Fabrice Santoro and Arnaud Clement's 2004 French Open tussle - by a whopping two hours and 27 minutes. Just the fifth set alone, at seven hours and six minutes (and counting), is already over half an hour longer.
With 163 games already on the scoreboard (well they would be had it not melted at 50-all), the match is now 41 games longer than the 1973 Davis Cup doubles match that previously held the record with a measly 122.
Both men have blasted Ivo Karlovic's 'most aces in a match' stat out of the water. Isner has clobbered down 98, while Mahut is just behind on 95. That's a combined total of 193, a whopping 97 more than Karlovic and Radek Stepanek managed during their five-set Davis Cup marathon in 2009.
The previous longest fifth set in a Grand Slam men's singles, a 21-19 effort between American Andy Roddick and Morocco's Younes El Aynaoui at the Australian Open, quite frankly, now looks pathetic.
The two gladiators have now served up 150 consecutive games without either of them converting a break point. The last break of serve came in the first game of the second set, although it's unlikely anyone can remember that long ago.
